I craft experiences
with digital design.

I have been designing brands, products, and strategies for 8 years. I excel at branding, experience design, prototyping, and design systems.

A new design system for Urban Company

Design systems, interface design

UC is India's largest home services platform, and today its customer and partner apps run entirely on Align Design System.

I created the component library and worked closely with engineering for its implementation. Align DS made it exponentially faster for designers to deliver pixel-perfect and consistent interface designs, mirrored 1:1 in code.

It led to the creation of several complimentary component libraries and guidelines for motion, content, & photography. A version of Align DS is open-source, available on the Figma Community.

Meticulous documentation for both designers and developers to minimise confusion, and unify nomenclature & terminology.

A demonstration of the components built, and the capabilities they unlocked for the Urban Company customer app.

An award-winning mobile experience for Revolt bikes

interface design, prototyping

When Revolt Motors wanted to introduce India to electric bikes, I was put in charge of designing its mobile app.

The app design compliments the bike's futuristic features and stunning design. It also serves as the gateway to interacting with the larger Revolt ecosystem, which included mobile swap stations for depleted batteries and at-home deliveries of charged batteries.

The public launch of Revolt generated instant fanfare and admiration, and the electric bikes were pre-booked for 6 months within 72 hours. The mobile app won Indias Best Design Project that year, and was also a finalist or runner-up in several design awards throughout the country.

The dynamic homescreen reflects the bike's current state and allows one-touch access to features like swipe-to-start, geofencing, and sound customisation.

The app also allowed its users to book a battery swap at home or navigate to the nearest mobile swap station and swap batteries there.

Brand identity unification for Nash Ventures

branding, prototyping

Nash Ventures was a hyper-accelerator money, talent, and resources to make any idea a reality were all available at one place. At one point, they had six different projects under their umbrella.

When the Nash Ventures website had to be redesigned, I used the opportunity to redesign its brand identity and of all the ventures under it.

The striking brand coherence enabled me to pair beautiful visuals with impactful content on its website, and set the brand framework for all future NV projects.

All logos were redesigned by redrawing their initials using intersecting parallelograms on a grid.

The unique logotypes ended up being excellent motifs in creative explorations for the website design.

Communication & visual strategy for RBL Bank

Branding, communication design

RBL Bank blitzed Indian banking with its portfolio of youth-centric credit cards. At Onething Design, we were offered the opportunity to own and redesign their entire customer experience journey.

Our research broke their target audience into four personas - Affluent, Mass Affluent, Mass, and Millennial. Each persona was then given a visual identity, graphic motifs, tone & language guidelines, and references to tie it all together.

This Visual Communication Guideline led to Onething becoming RBL's longest and most trusted design partner, systemising aesthetic, tone, language, and content across all communication channels for all their credit cards.

The Affluent persona, which used the diamond motif, colours evoking luxury, and keywords to match the elite status.

The World Safari Credit Card I designed, illustrating what travellers most rejoice - the airplane wing from their windows.

I love photography, videography, and video editing. I create aftermovies for events and freelance for photoshoots.

Mainly though, I love taking & editing landscape pictures from my travels.

A decade ago, I discovered electronic music and sound design. Since then, Ive composed over 30 tracks, 8 of which are public on SoundCloud.

I mainly pursue music creation as a creative outlet.

explore.

create.

transcend.

My name is Suhail Gupta, and I pair my creative acumen with technical dexterity to craft eloquent, exceptional experiences. I also like big words.

My approach to design, and life, is outlined by three principles;

  • Explore with ideas, concepts, approaches, conversations, perspectives, products, apps, workflows, places, food, music - never stop being curious.

  • Create and manifest in the highest fidelity possible. If it doesn’t exist, it can't be shared, iterated, or built upon. Make it real, make it fast, make it right, and make it happen.

  • Transcend yourself and your ideas. Learn furiously, improve continuously, and compound. Your peak should be your present, and your competence should exceed your confidence.
